An application has been made to COGG to amend the permit of use for The Barwon Heads Arts & Community Hub.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to write letters supporting the application. Your letters have been forwarded to COGG.
The permit request:
- An increase in numbers from 33 to 100 maximum patrons
- After hours use until 10pm Mon-Sat
The requested patron number changes will allow flexibility to take bookings for the Makers Shed and the Main Exhibition area concurrently, so the Hub can be fully utilised by our community. After hours use will meet the demand for community meetings and art activities as well as occasional larger events such as Exhibition openings including the Taste of the Trail Exhibition, which will launch the Bellarine Arts Trail in November.
The BHAC have had a really successful first year equipping, managing and developing arts programming at The Hub. We’ve worked closely with our neighbours the Senior Citz who have also supported the permit application. The Arts Hub is being managed as a not for profit Arts & Community Hub and is not a general events venue for hire. All revenue generated goes towards further equipping and managing The Arts Hub with the hope to fund an Arts Hub Coordinator in the future.
Where to Now
The application has been advertised. We’re waiting to hear from COGG and respond to objectors so we can clarify information or address any concerns. We look forward to keeping the community up to date with the outcome.
