The Barwon Heads Fine Music Society is very excited to announce that in 2024 we are moving to a new venue for our concerts and Chorale rehearsals .
For the last 15 years many musical artists and Chorale members have enjoyed performing at All Saints Anglican Church and we will be sad to leave.
All of us involved in the BHFMS would like to sincerely thank Cathy Coleman and the team at All Saints for allowing us to use that beautiful space for concerts and Chorale rehearsals over this time.
One of the reasons for the move is that the BHFMS is moving the Upright Grand piano to the Arts Hub, so as the piano will get more use in this wonderful new community space – we thank Arts Council President Vicki Strachan, & Secretary Libby Darcy for assisting us with the move and organising the Exhibition space for Sunday concerts and Chorale rehearsals.
As such our first concert for the year which is on Sunday 18th February in the Arts Hub and will star Dr Donna Coleman who is travelling from New York to be with us & I can assure you she will give us a wonderful afternoon of musical treats.
Her concert will feature the music of American and Australian composers immersed in the Romantic and Ragtime traditions. Works by Grainger, Cronin, Easton, Arlen, Giblin, Beach, Parker, Joplin, Evans, and Ives (for his 150th birthday, his rollicking gospel version of “Bringing in the Sheaves”) create a variegated tapestry of sounds from both sides of The Pond”
Just for this concert the start time will be 3:30pm an hour later than usual, to coordinate an art exhibition, that will be an extra pleasure for you on the day.
