In Everlasting Seascapes group exhibition, five women artists bring you their own unique collections of memories, impressions, traces of experiences of time and place through multi-displinary art practices exploring local environment within our inter-connected worlds.
Inspired by Barwon Heads as a very special place surrounded by vast coastlines and the Barwon river estuary, on the Bellarine Peninsula, traditionally known as lands of Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation, rich in natural diversity.
Enter into a space of wonder and retreat from hustle and bustle of daily life and busy streets.
Explore artworks inspired by local natural environment and informed by its fragility through evocative sculptural creations by Britt Silvester.
Follow the trail of textured shell mosaic wall works and ceramic frames by Madeleine Thornton-Smith, featuring an engaging art practice exploring shells as an archetypal symbol of new life in many cultures, while also challenging the hierarchy that exists between art and craft in Western art.
Discover everlasting light and colour of local seascapes within vibrant oil paintings by Sara Leanne Perry, deeply inspired by the rich tradition of Impressionism, seeking to capture the fleeting beauty of natural world.
Sense the serenity of the local seascapes in Karen Williamson’s photography, influenced by her love for the ocean, capturing the understated beauty of the Australian landscapes with a refined minimalistic approach.
Experience the meditative moments surrounded by pastel horizons in ‘small miracles’ expanded painting installation by Katia Ksr before your journey to your next destination.
You are welcome to meet the artists at the opening night on Thursday 6th of March at Barwon Heads Arts Hub from 6pm until 8pm or visit anytime to view the exhibition during opening hours.
